Important Announcements Regarding Real Presence Real Future in the Diocese of Columbus

FROM THE PASTOR

As announced at all of the Masses last weekend, the second round of the draft model recommendations for our Diocese have come out. These are updated models from the first round. They include many factors and there are difficult suggestions for our whole diocese. There are about 30 parishes suggested to eventually close including St. Peter. The current model suggests that St. Peter would combine with St. Michael and St. Joan of Arc would become the multilingual parish of northwest Columbus. This is a recommendation. No decisions have been made. We have seen that the models changed from the first round to the second round based on the feedback from priests and the people. Only 5% of the diocese gave feedback in the first round. Your feedback counts! Before you listen to any misinformation, it is vital that you watch the video that explains the factors and the reasoning behind where we are as a diocese and the specific recommendations for our planning group. Then it is vital that you fill out the survey and provide your feedback and solutions! You can watch the video presentation by going to https://realpresencerealfuture.org/draft-models-spring-2022/. We are in planning group 2 North and it would be good to view the end of planning group 2 Central video as we are recommended to combine with St. Michael’s which is in that group. I can not stress the importance enough of watching the video and giving your feedback. Let us also continue offer our prayers and sacrifices for our whole diocese and our future Bishop who will have to make these decisions. Additionally, it is becoming more and more evident to me that we are in need of revitalizing the faith in our families. Real Presence Real Future has shown this and my experience as a priest confirms it. Thus, since January, I have been planning a Parish Mission. The theme will be “Living our Catholic Faith within our Families”. The mission is for the whole family – adults and children. This will occur on the last weekend of August. Saturday August 27th will be in English and Sunday August 28th will be in Spanish. So, save the date! More details to come. Also, for over a year now, we have been planning a fun parish community event and I want to announce we will be having a Cinco de Mayo Casino Night on Friday May 6th with proceeds to benefit our parish mission. Details are in the bulletin or you may call the office. Finally, we welcome Gabe Lawson as the new music accompanist here at St. Peter. May we continue to turn to the Lord in prayer and trust.

Por lo tanto, desde enero, he estado planeando una Misión Parroquial. El tema será "Vivir nuestra fe católica dentro de nuestras familias". La misión es para toda la familia, adultos y niños. Esto ocurrirá el último fin de semana de agosto. El sábado 27 de agosto será en inglés y el domingo 28 de agosto será en español. Así que, ¡Aparte la fecha! Más detalles por venir. Además, durante más de un año, hemos estado planeando un divertido evento comunitario parroquial y quiero anunciar que tendremos una Noche de Casino del Cinco de Mayo el viernes 6 de mayo con las ganancias para beneficiar nuestra misión parroquial. Los detalles están en el boletín o puede llamar a la oficina. Finalmente, damos la bienvenida a Gabe Lawson como el nuevo acompañante de música aquí en St. Peter.
